  • While in Vegas for CES week my hubby and I decided to mix business with pleasure and had date night. I chose Jaleo as I was in the mood for tapas. We started with a carafe of their featured cocktail - Sangria, of course! The sangria had a nice blend of fresh fruits and it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. I don't particularly like sweet sangria so this was very easy to drink. For food we started with a Manchego Cheese Bocadillo. It reminded me of the baguette sandwiches in Paris. The flauta bread wasn't too tough or crunchy which was great but this was my least favorite item of the evening. We also ordered Patatas Bravas and it was 5 stars all the way! The potatoes were crisp yet soft. The spicy tomato sauce and alioli complemented the potatoes nicely. Next came the Gambas al Ajillo which was basically shrimp sautéed in garlic. Great tapas dish! We were still hungry so we decided to order 2 more dishes. After perusing the large menu we went with Carne Asada and Chistorra Envuelta en Patata Frita. Sounds fancy but it's chorizo wrapped in crispy potato. These final 2 dishes were amongst our favorite! I also adored the presentation of the wrapped chorizo. (see pics) Our top pick of the evening was the Carne Asada which arrived last. Our server didn't ask how we wanted it prepared but it came out perfectly to our liking - medium to medium rare. The skirt steak was extremely flavorful and juicy. TIP: Make a reservation as it can fill up quickly! We went on a weeknight but being that it was CES week they were very busy. Lucky for us, I made reservations on OpenTable so we were seated quickly.
