| - Soul food is tricky for me, being southern I have a steady diet of "soul food." The tricky part comes in bc the actual food doesn't deliver. I like to try foods I don't normally make myself, so I avoid the usual staples like collards, beans, and mac & cheese. I tried the beef ribs, yams, and black eyed peas. I should have ordered the staples. The yams were the best part, just sweet enough. The peas were oddly sweet also...yuck. Salty, yes. Hammy, word. Sweet, gross. The beef ribs were a joke the serving was one and a half pieces and six bones. Of course I rolled my eyes and muttered to myself but since I was with company I kept quiet. As with most soul food places, I think this place caters to folks that don't have a momma that can throw down.
