I'm glad I didn't pay for the massage; it was a gift. The pre-paid (Groupon) one hour service lasted only 40 minutes. I had my timer set for one hour after I undressed, so I'm not guessing at the amount of time that passed between when she started the massage and when she said my time was up. When making the appointment I specified "light and relaxing", when asked by the therapist right before she started, I said "light to medium pressure." Most of the massage felt like deep tissue pressure. I could have complained, or I could have asked her to stop, or I could have done any number of things that I didn't do. The reason I didn't speak up during the service was because before leaving the room to give me some privacy as I undressed, the therapist pointedly showed me the tray that was on the bed and told me the envelope on it was for me to leave a tip or I could leave it up front. I did neither, because I believe a "zero" tip is a stronger indicator of displeasure than the spoken word. Besides, I have paid for massages at different locales and when I spoke up there about the pressure, the therapists didn't make any adjustments. One person even went so far as to use more pressure after I spoke up. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this Elements Massage.
