| - I just got a gel manicure and regular pedicure from Ming (Minq?) and he did an AMAZING job and was seriously the most adorable nail person I've ever had.
I've been wanting "mirror" nails for forever and I knew they had the chrome polish at Kens (for $15 extra). I was meeting a friend there - I arrived about 7 minutes before her. At the time, there were 3 open pedicure seats, but none side-by-side. I told him (and the girl who seemed to be the manager I assume) that it's totally okay for us to sit seperately, and I pointed to a chair on the far end, that was 2 seats down from another empty chair and told them that would be perfect, and my friend can just sit in the one 2 chairs down when she gets there. No big deal to me at all. Ming asked me a few times to make sure that's what I wanted to do, and told me I could sit in a seat up front because the girl in the chair next to it was just finishing up and then my friend and I could be side by side. By that point, I was already settled in my chair and comfy, so I told him I was okay with where I was sitting and it was totally fine that we would have one stranger between us. All good.
He asked if I wanted to have him start my manicure first so that when my friend got there, we could both start our pedicures at the same time. I honestly didn't care either way so I said yes of course! So he started my manicure.
A couple minutes into that, the manager (?) lady came and started pestering him for not putting me at the seat toward the front where the other girl was finishing up so I could be right by my friend. I kept saying to both of them that I was totally okay with the current situation and did not need to be moved -- totally fine. Manager lady continued to get mad at Ming... loudly and in front of not just me but anyone else who was nearby. It was uncomfortable and made me feel bad for Ming because he was just doing what I told him I wanted... as he should do in the service industry. He was putting me, the customer, first. I told him what I wanted and he did exactly that!
You could tell the manager was mad. Then, when my friend came, and sat two seats down from mine, manager lady came back and got mad at Ming AGAIN for not listening to her and for starting my manicure before my toes. Even though, again, I told him he could.
Uncomfortable and unnecessary... again.
Anyways!! Ming was so cute and sweet and always making sure I was comfortable and happy with how my nails were looking.
I didn't want my new chrome nails to look lame on my short natural nails, so I decided to do a very short, natural looking acrylic nail first, so they would be a little longer. He made my acrylics look the best acrylics have ever looked on me! Great shape, exactly the length I wanted.
Then he did the chrome process --- which by the way is SO cool. If my hands hadn't been busy at the time, I would've taken a video for this!
Moral of the story - my nails look FAB, Ming is an AWESOME technician (nice, good at what he does, speaks good English, and kept the customer first!!), and the manager should have kept her bossiness a little more private. Or nonexistent because nothing was even going wrong.
