| - Ok, so my husband forgot it was Mother's Day...and half way through the day he had that "ooops" moment and decided he would take me out to dinner. My request was Peruvian food, and we were on our way to Contigo Peru when we remembered seeing Inka Fest near another favorite spot of ours. We are always up for a new adventure, so we decided to go to Inka Fest.
What a great decision!
The place was nearly empty...sad for mother's day, but then again, that's more of a brunch/lunch day than dinner.
We ordered the Jalea, which is a very large plate of fish, squid, mussles and shrimp covered with julienne onions, served with fried yucca and tostones. Yum! The fish was perfect! That's what I wanted for mother's day, and my dream came true. It's a 2 person dish, and we shared it with our kids. The kids ate more than us, I think they absolutely loved it.
My husband ordered the Seco de Res which is stewed meat with rice and beans. It was also delicious, while not as impressive as the Jalea. As appetizers we had empanadas...yummy. But I find their price is a little bit steep for what they are. And also we tried the Causa, now that's an original dish. It's like a chicken salad sandwich but it has mashed potatoes instead of bread.
The staff was very nice, kept checking on us and even though they forgot to serve us the Seco de Res, once we reminded them it took less than 2 minutes to get it.
We will definitely be back. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
