| - After having two disastrous experiences with the stress inducing manipulation of ABC and Peoria Nissan, I limped into Power Chevrolet, expecting to get rapped on the nose with a rolled paper and leaving without a shirt. There was a van on the lot that I dearly wanted to get for my wife. We had been with only a work truck for the two years following our foreclosure and she and the kids were housebound while I was at work.
I was approached by the salesman, Tomas, shortly after walking the lot. I pointed out the vehicle and he went to get the keys. We took it for a drive. Tomas told me that it was a single owner van, recently traded in by a Sun City couple. A cream puff, if you will. Having been lied to by a previous auto dealership, I took this with a grain of salt. Then he handed me the CarFax and I saw that it was true. Not only had it been purchased there ten years ago, but it had been serviced there every three months like clockwork even after the warranty expired! These people were satisfied with the dealership.
Not once did I feel pressured or deceived. Tomas was extremely pleasant and helpful. I explained my financial situation and he was sympathetic and did not attempt to draw my attention to cars outside of my budget. Within a week, I had dealt with the banks, under the supportive counsel of Luis, the Finance Manager, and was able to secure funding.
It is important to me to make it clear that the lack of manipulation and pressure was such a relief. Unlike another dealership that insisted on a van twice my budget and tried to get me to go and pick up my wife because "she'll love it!", Power Chevrolet was restrained and they told me within moments that they would fill out the paperwork, get it financed and have it ready for pick up in days.
And they did.
