  • I enjoyed my visit. We arrived shortly after sundown for the evening flashlight tour last week. While they do provide flashlights, bringing your own is advised. For a botanical garden, I thought this place was pretty neat. The varieties of cacti and succulents that were present in the collection, as well as the informative displays (did you know that a saguaro cactus doesn't grow arms until it is at least 50 years old???) were top-notch. Unfortunately, it was a bit hot, and the little kids (ages 6 and 4) that we went with could only make it through about 1/3 of the gardens before they were ready to get out of the heat. I know some Yelpers mentioned that this place has a somewhat high admission price, which I didn't mind, as I believe the funds go to a good cause. Oh yeah--they have an AAA member discount that isn't advertised--make sure to bring your card if you are a member. I was sad that the gift shop didn't stay open for the late tours. I am a magnet lover, and would have loved to pick one up for my collection.
