  • Oh Lord. Just don't do it. Just don't. Go across the road to the Cadillac Lounge, or one of the hipster wine bars, or go drink with the hobos in the street. Just don't come here. I arrived on a Tuesday night to hang out with a bunch of friends. From the time I sat down at the table, it took FORTY-FIVE MINUTES to get a lukewarm beer. I'm not even kidding. Forty-five minutes. On a Tuesday night. When I asked the server about it she said "Yeah, there's a real back up at the bar." Not "sorry, let me check on that for you"; just, suck it up, basically. For my second pint I went to the bar, which was better; the barman worked fast and knew what he was doing, serving everyone in the right order. It only took about ten minutes that time. But both beers (one was a lager, one a wheat) were warm. Ew, ew, ew. Warm beer on a 30-degree night. Not exactly what I wanted. Don't be fooled by their "extensive" beer list--they're often out of many of them. They didn't have the first beer I wanted; my friend asked for three different things before she found one that the server knew they definitely had available. The ambience: what ambience? Outside is a decent enough patio, but inside is just kind of skeezy. Not in a good, interesting, dive-bar kind of way, just in a kind of "We don't really give a crap" kind of way. The food... well. I didn't think it was possible to screw up chicken wings. Here, they are as dry and stringy and flavourless as old rope. I freakin' love chicken wings, but even I couldn't eat these. I think three of them were eaten by our table of about ten, and the rest were left untouched. That really tells you something... So if you want to wait forty five minutes to get a tepid beer that wasn't the one you wanted, and meanwhile to sit in surroundings that remind you of a dank cafeteria, and visit bathrooms located in a cellar that will remind you of the setting of a cheap Eastern European horror flick and smell even worse, this is your place.
