A friend of mine found an injured bird in our neighborhood. The sweet little thing's eye was hurt and swollen shut, so we brought him to Carolina Waterfowl Rescue. Now, I don't know much about birds, I had a parrot in high school that I never really fell in love with, she threw sunflower seeds and complimented herself all day. Needless to say, I'm not great with birds. But this little house finch (later named Henry) needed help and we brought him to their 24/7 rescue drop off. A woman met us at the door and scooped him right out of the box to look at him. She immediately knew that he had conjunctivitis and that with one month of antibiotics, he'd be good as new. This woman amazed me. Haha. Yay for Henry!
The facility is not the cleanest of places, but again - a whole lot of birds live there. And it smells like a whole lot of birds live there. It's bigger than expected, with more cages in the back than I had imagined. Dropping off the sick house finch was easy and efficient. The bird lady was sweet and well informed. This is a great resource for Charlotte!
