| - I had gone into Bobbette & Belle's new shop to suss out their highly lauded macarons. My first end-of-day experience was lacklustre to say the least. I imagine that since they keep their goods out in the open-air, they dry out rather quickly, so ask when things were made before buying. Both the whoopie pies and the macarons I had were dry and stale. Pretty though.
It wasn't until a second visit that I felt the macarons were up to snuff. While not my favourite in the city, they are very, very, good when fresh.
But really, my great discovery was their raspberry marshmallows - just a bit tart, not too sweet, and divine in a cup of hot chocolate (I had some from Grinder with me). Unanimously enjoyed by all the work peeps. I also tried passionfruit marshmallows (not in hot chocolate!), which were pretty good.
Cupcakes and gorgeous cakes (pre-order) are also available and on display. Some tarts and other goods round things out.
The space is open and lovely, done up perfectly with a rustic elegance. There is limited seating available to eat your treats in the shop, accompanied by the hot chocolate they sell.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
