| - My experience as a student was horrendous, but fortunately there is awesome natural talent from the students I was with. I graduated in 2008 and do not recommend wasting your $12,000.00 to get trained from them. I come from a long lineof hair stylists and have been working at a family owned salon for 5 years as an apprentice. When I called to be enrolled and had let 'Olga' know my history, she never mentioned anything about an apprenticeship program which is a fraction of the time/cost (6 weeks versus 9 months...huge difference!). So needless to say most of my experience was nothing new and I wasn't happy giving them my money for basic training that ive been doing for years.
Through my year I had to take time off for 3 emergency surgeries which i had hospital notes and my mother calling to inform them of the situation. In the end I missed 6 weeks worth of school. I was with my same classmates till graduation, and the morning of it they informed me that I will not be attending the photos or the celebration, but instead I will be pulled back to the class behind us, which is two month intervals. I finished and did my test before this class ended, so I didnt even get to celebrate or take part in their class pictures either, I was just handed my certificate and left. I know its hard for them to keep teachers from their stingy rules and set curriculum, which is out dated.
The students do a good job and I woulnt expect top salon quality from a majority of them since their students, but as a running program for excited students please think twice. They smile till you pay them then they could care less, and think of you as kindergarteners.FYI... Out of our 24 students in my (first) class, 6 dropped out to go into another school for proper training. Its very rare that a class dosent have a drop out!
