Just recently took my cat here due to some extreme self-mutilation. He gets himself into a frenzy every time we move him to a new house and starts to scratch himself so much he gets wounds. This time was it was a little worse than usual so I made an appointment with Lakewood Animal Hospital. I payed 60 dollars for a rabies shot (which has nothing to do with the scratches - he just needed one) and for the vet to ignore everything I was saying about the scratching and say 'it will get better.' Then left without giving me anything for it.
Well, it didn't get better. So I made an appointment with Wendt. And I was glad I did because this time I was met by a vet who actually let me talk instead of cutting in every two seconds. She acknowledged that it could be many things and gave my cat a cortisone shot to stop the scratching. It worked, and even though I payed a little more than I did at Lakewood Animal Hospital, it was well worth it. The vet was very friendly and my cat enjoyed being handled by her.
The desk staff needs a little work (very grumpy and very keen to giving dirty looks) but all in all, a good place to take your pet. I will definitely be going again.
