| - I was excited, at first, to be able to stay at one of Cleveland's historic hotels. The exterior architecture is beautiful and really grabs you to want to stay there. The interior decoration is also gorgeously done and really transports you back to the early 1900's. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and nice (hence 1 one of the 2 stars given). The manager's reception in the evening was nice, and they also offerred chocolate covered strawberries! The other star was given for the beauty of the hotel.
Anyways, I checked in and arrived at my room. When I opened the door, I could feel the heat. I looked for a thermostat to turn on the air, but it was no where to be found. I called the front desk thinking that I missed something; however, the front desk informed me that the hotel does not have centralized air and to open a window. I guess it was not time yet to convert the heat to air, and it required an engineer to do it. The weather was okay outside, so I opened the window, which cooled down the room. After a few hours, I noticed tiny insects all in my room. This was because the windows did not have any screens, so insects started going towards the light, which happened to be my room! At one point, I counted 20 insects flying around.
I got lucky on Tuesday and Wednesday as the weather was descent enough to not need the air. However, on Thursday, it was really hot and muggy outside. Opening the windows did not do a thing, and I called the front desk again. Again, they said to open the window. By this time, I was contemplating switching hotels for my last night. My room was as hot as a sauna, and I have insects flying around in my room. I ended up toughing it out.
I do not recommend this hotel during season changes; however, your best bet will probably be staying here around the winter time.
