| - From this Yelp page and the Nail Story website, they promote nail art. After reading their website and seeing all the beautiful nail art photos here, I decided to give this place a shot.
Usually places with nice nail art don't do great nail cleaning- only push cuticle back and that's it. But this place said otherwise (everything they described in their website) PLUS nail art.. I thought "This is perfect! Finally!!!"
I called to make an appointment and I specifically said Gel Mani with Nail Art and regular pedi. The person on the phone confirmed gel mani with nail art and reg pedi for 10:30. I was excited!
When I went in, the place was empty and all the workers were sitting down and there were no clients - which means - whoever knows how to do nail art should've taken me.
Instead, I got a worker who didn't do nail art. I can tell she was scared to mess up. I felt bad cuz while I was getting a pedicure from another lady, she was standing awkwardly hunched over trying to give me a manicure at the spa chair. I could just tell she was trying her best but it's like she kept second guessing what she was doing. I said I want square nails and she kept rounding them. I said you can make it more straight across and more square. The shape was okay.
Also, she cut me. I wasn't mad and it didn't hurt. I only noticed she cut me cuz she kept rubbing it with a napkin and then later tried to "treat" it with alcohol or something BUT was blowing on it at the same time. *Cringe!!** Everyone in the beauty industry, especially nails, should know you shouldn't blow on anyone or any tools you use. This is why I chose this place cuz I was confident it was clean compared to the other nasty nail salons. The place is pretty clean and so nice inside but she was blowing on my cut.
I noticed that the nail art wasn't getting brought up so I showed a picture. I said only if you can do it otherwise let's just stick to pink polish and silver glitter accent. She said she would try.
She tried but even before the nail art, the regular gel polish was not curing properly. It was like drooping while it was under the light - like it was melting and bubbling. So she had to scrape off the nail art finger and try again. She said the bottle of polish is not good.
When she attempted the nail art (she didn't finish it, she just tried a line of it and showed me), it did not look good and was not like the picture at all so I said let's just take it off, leave the regular color and I won't get art. She said okay - let's just put the silver glitter on it (the nail that was supposed to have the art) and I said ok.
As you can see - I'm annoyingly picky but why shouldn't I be? It's my money and if you promote nail art- everyone should know how to do it OR assign me to someone who does.
I went back on here to see if I'm just overreacting about the nail art but no - look at all the beautiful art on here and I couldn't even get a simple design.
Also, from looking at this page over, I now see who the owner is and she was there while I was there. She could've stepped in or taken me if she cared enough to have her customers satisfied but she didn't. I feel like all owners should go above and beyond.
The ladies who helped me were pretty nice and everyone else seemed so as well but nothing that's makes me want to come back. Especially because I feel like this is false advertisement.
I also didn't like the fact that I was charged $5 extra for silver polish on one nail. Every other place I go to doesn't charge that. It's just a different color - it's not nail art. Maybe they had to use a more expensive gel for the glitter but why? Every other place I go to has silver glitter gel polish. I've done this many times and no extra charge.
I feel bad that I feel the need to write this review because I really, really wanted to like this place and I also know that some people maybe not be as experienced as others and people will get better as they take more clients.. but THE OWNER WAS THERE AND WAS NOT BUSY. She was FREE. So, my experience could've been avoided. Why didn't they care to make sure I get nail art?
The ladies that helped me tried their best to make sure I was satisfied. I know for sure they will know me&I don't like to give bad feedback but they knew that I was leaving w/o getting what I really wanted. Their gel polish wasn't even working for them properly! (Hint to owner!) I don't even know who the ladies that helped me are actually cuz they never said their names. They were nice but need a lot more experience. It's just not fair I didn't get an experienced tech when everyone was available so I won't be back.
Check out my pix of what I left with. Not horrible, filing could be better, polish is kind of messy & thick. Nothing special.
*02/24/15 Polish on pedi chipped last week. Gel is lifting.Glitter I paid $5 extra for chipped 2day! I've never had to worry about gel until 3-4weeks after! Or pedi until NEXT VISIT! This is Not worth anyone's money!
