  • I called AZ Glass & Door the day before Mother's Day because a small stone from my hubby's edger had shattered our sliding patio door into a million pieces! Fortunately it didn't collapse. We were scheduled to host Mother's Day dinner so I needed someone who could come out that day. I spoke with Kevin at AZ Glass and gave him the measurements. He quoted me a price to come out to board it up ($370) and also to replace the glass ($400). I thought it was high but was willing to pay to get someone out that day. I sent him photos of the door. He also said it would take a week to 10 days for the new door to arrive. The good part was that the tech arrived within about 3 hours as promised. He said it would be better to tape up the window rather than boarding it up so we would still be able to use the door for our party. Price would be the same. At the time I thought a roll of tape costs a lot less than plywood but went ahead anyway. A week and a half later I got an email - I thought our door had come in. Instead it was a quote to replace the door for $670! I called and was told the price was so high because it was a dual pane window. Kevin never told me this and they certainly knew it was dual pane from the photos I had sent. The door hadn't even been ordered yet because I needed to approve the price. I complained to the customer service person who was sympathetic and said she would check with the manager. She called back and said that "even though he didn't have to, the manager had agreed to give me a 10% discount". Down to $603. I said I would call some other places for a price and let her know. Then John called me back and said they had my door size in stock and could do it for only $498. WOW! No thanks! Not honoring your original estimate was bad - but now I felt like I was getting ripped off. Ended up with another company for about $450.
