| - PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CONSIDERING HIRING THIS COMPANY.
In my haste to get my move scheduled I forgot to read the reviews and I am sick to my stomach about the oversight, it could have saved me so much heartache and money.
I hired Oasis Moving & Storage to handle my move from CA to TX. The sales person seemed very knowledgable and helpful and the quote I was given was the best rate against others I had spoken with, for all of these reasons I booked the move with them. The sales person knew the delivery date I needed and didn't bother to tell that the dates couldn't be guaranteed, she also told me they do not contract out their trucks or workers so Oasis would be handling it start to finish which was important to me. Furthermore, she told me that I would be working with her and be able to contact her directly every step of the way. Once the movers came to pick up my stuff, that all changed. After most of my stuff was on the truck with the exception of my mattresses I was told that I had to sign off on a new total which was $1,000.00 more than my quote or the rest of my stuff couldn't go. I felt I had no choice and this was intentional on their part so I paid the extra money to get all of my things to TX. Once everything was loaded and the movers were giving me the last of the paperwork, I learned that my delivery date - which I had planned the whole move around - couldn't be met and it would be up to 18 days after that date which they would deliver. Keep in mind, all of my stuff with the exception of the suitcase I had prepared live out of for a week was now on the truck and there was nothing I could do but scramble to figure out what I was going to do for the next 2+ weeks while I waited for my furniture and stuff to be delivered. At this point I should also note that I am 5 months pregnant so sleeping on an air mattress or the floor is not an option. The sales person who was originally so helpful suddenly could not be reached and wouldn't respond to emails or call me back. Instead I was transferred to the heinous woman in pick ups and deliveries who was incredibly rude and refused to let me talk to anyone else so I gave up and drove on to TX to figure it out there. A few days later I got a call saying my stuff would be delivered in 3-5 days and my remaining balance was 416.00 which would have matched the original quote. You pay 50% at pick up and the rest at delivery, FYI. Three days after that call I get an email saying it would actually be 3-5 days from this new date that my stuff would be delivered and my new total is $1201.00 and has to be paid before the truck would be unloaded. So, now I have 3 different time frames of delivery and 3 different totals. The delivery finally comes on August 19 and immediately things seemed off. The driver was the only person who was actually employed by Oasis, the two "movers" were picked up off Craigslist to unload the truck and they were not professional movers. The stuff was dumped in my house, none of the furniture was put back together and EVERYTHING was broken. The boxes were crushed and you could hear the broken dishes and glass rattling around inside, my TVs were busted, every single piece of furniture had scratches and scuffs on it and my dress had a huge hole in the back of it (not to mention all the scratches and dents in the front). This is not an exaggeration, it looked like the stuff had just been thrown on the truck carelessly. I took pictures of everything and have considered getting a lawyer, there is no reasonable explanation for the manner in which my stuff showed up. The damage is so bad that it seriously looks intentional. To give you an idea of how roughly the boxes that were marked fragile were handled, they were crushed to the point of busting open, delivered upside down even though clearly marked which was the top and bottom and a metal toaster that was wrapped in bubble wrap and surrounded by clothes was completely smashed open. This is unacceptable business practices and a complete scam, these are not professional movers and their business needs to be shut down.
