Here's what we ate at Taste of Madison yesterday and their grades:
Deep fried cookie dough (A)
Reuben Roll (F)
Char-Grilled oyster (B)
Mint Ice Cream (A)
Pad Thai (B+)
Baklava (B+)
Fish Taco (C+)
Bacon on a Stick (C+)
The Reuben Roll was awful. This was supposed to be a Reuben sandwich packed into an egg roll.
Prices were up and samples were smaller. For example, the fish taco had 2 tiny pieces of fish in the taco. Also, the Baklava sample we were given was good but small.
Possibly because of the heat, it was not as crowded this year. Parking was $10. Dishes were from $2 to $5.
I would've eaten and sampled a lot more, but it was too hot. Looking at the forecast, the restaurants should have made more cold dishes. Barbecue was the most common item offered.
If it hadn't been so hot, I probably would've given this event more stars.
