| - I finally dumped ipower after way too long.
To be fair, some of their techs are good, and overall tech support got better over the years. But there were just too many episodes when something would go wrong, and the only solution would be to "put in a ticket" ... which meant, sometime in the next 24 hours, the problem may or may not get resolved.
Earlier this year, though, ipower earned all my years' collected wrath. My site went down, and it took several conversations with tech support to ascertain that they'd shut it down on purpose. Because of a "bandwidth violation."
This was surprising news, since 1) my site generates very little traffic, and 2) the service I pay for promises unlimited bandwidth. I had to talk to several representatives to get anything resembling an answer. Let's just say it was a shitty one. Without a hint of apology. When I asked why I wasn't notified before they pulled the plug, they said "that's our policy."
My policy is to boil the directors of businesses like this in acid. Unfortunately, my resources are limited, so I had to jump ship to a better host instead. I wish I'd gone sooner.
Good riddance, assholes.
