My HVAC unit is 13 years old and I have had repair bills every 6 months for the last two years and decided it was time to replace it. The company that has been servicing my unit gave me a quote on a unit that I felt was ridiculously high so I thought I would shop around a little and see if I could get a better deal. A coworker recommended DVA because she had purchased a unit from them a couple of years ago. They continue to make service calls on her unit and she said she was very happy with them so I decided to call. I called on a Monday afternoon and spoke to Carol. I explained my situation and asked if she could send someone out to my house to discuss new units. I told her the only time that would be feasible was Wednesday at 7pm. Sure enough, Cory showed up right on time. We talked for over an hour and he answered all my questions, he even answered questions that I didn't think to ask. He was very knowledgeable, open and transparent, I felt good energy from him. After checking everything he offered me a unit with the same SEER and EER rating but with a two stage compressor (instead of a one stage) for almost 5K less. I asked him why I should do business with his company as they have a 2 star rating on YELP and most of the reviews are very negative. He explained that a new owner took over the company a couple of years ago and had made major changes and fired a lot of people and hired new ones. Most of the negative reviews (but not all) were from 2015 and earlier so my wife and I decided to give them a chance. The new unit was to be installed that Saturday.
The installation crew got to the house at 9am and got right to work. They had to replace the air intake duct to a larger one because Cory noticed the one that was there wasn't allowing enough air to enter the unit which would decrease it's life expectancy. The installation crew (Jeff, Rico and Damien) were polite and respectful. It took them about 5 hours start to finish. They cleaned everything up when they were done. My yard actually looked better after they left than when they got there. Jeff showed me how to work the new thermostat (I'm not tech savvy at all) before they left. Since it is the middle of November there was no need for AC but I set the temp to 60 and it cooled down nicely. Then I set the heat to 71 and it worked just as nice, very quiet. My initial experience with DVA was very positive. They did what they said they would do and did it when they said they would. I have no complaints.
