  • I love my 10 year old futon, but I wanted to purchase a new mattress to continue my sleeping success. I looked on-line and saw 3 businesses that specialized in Futons. I first saw Tom at Futon Favorite Friday whilst rushing to work. We had a great discussion about foam core/versus cotton or inner sprung. He showed me and allowed me to bounce/lay/sit on the three options in what was close to my price range. He was both knowledgeable and yet not pushy or in a hurry to have me buy or go. I was very impressed that he himself made them, very impressed! He was delightful to talk with and the fact that he is a local businessman was something I wanted to support. I contacted one of the competitors and they were very far out from where I live and work, their mattresses were almost too cheap (I think you get what you pay for) they don't have a outlet/store I can go anytime and see/bounce/sit I have to call first and they they will see if they have them....nice guy though but just not what I wanted to do. The second business was a lovely gentleman in a large store and he has a lovely selection of frames, but all the same mattress????? I am not sure what purpose that serves......I would think one might have more than one mattress to show me to compare foam/cotton/innerspring. But no.....I thanked him for his help, he was very helpful and nice to me. I saw Tom this morning (sat 9th may) and confirmed my order for my bed and he is going to have it ready by Wed/Thursday. I will definitely be back to look at a slat bed/frame down the road. or one of the many and lovely covers. I have already referred 3 people there and would do so to anyone in a moment. I believe in supporting great local business. I read the somewhat dubious Yelp reviews but decided that without hearing the whole story from both sides it is always difficult to judge someone....I have had days where things have gone downhill with a customer. I can only judge from my own experience, which was fabulous. The service was impeccable, the mattresses are good quality and reasonably priced. Tom was both incredibly helpful and a delight to deal with, I am very happy.
