Ready for a bizarre story? Here goes:
I'm asleep in our room (dead asleep), when another guest who was also assigned to our room entered with a key. My sweet 20 pound dog knew this strange man did not belong in my room (my dog is very protective but only when people enter his domain unbidden), so he gave the intruder a nip to let him know he wasn't welcome. The other guest and his family, by the way, were completely understanding and the poor man wasn't hurt at all.
So off runs my Boston Terrier, apparently in search of other potential threats. All the while I'm still asleep. Thankfully, the wife of the BITTEN man demanded that one of hotel staff retrieve my dog. Apparently, they would have let him run around outside until a car hit him and solved that problem for them.
The only reason I found out about any if this was because we ran into the accidental intruder and he relayed the story.
So, you may be wondering, what did the Best Western do to make it right? Did they compensate the bitten and embarrassed man? No. Did they tell me anything? No. Did they try to get away with double booking a room, to the embarrassment and injury of their guests? Yes. Did they create a situation in which my beloved pet could have been put down had the man chosen to press charges or been hit by a car? Yes.
Will I ever stay there again? No. Will I be calling corporate to complain? Yes.
