| - Atmosphere:
Walking in you get a retro bar feel. They play all the "oldies, but goodies" music and the peeps were primarily semi-hipsters (AZ style). I'm a fan of tattoos and this style, even though I don't appear to be, so I was digging it. One side is a bar scene with pool and other games (briefly walked through); the other side was the restaurant. They have booths, tables and 'breakfast nooks'; host told us to sit wherever.
Service:
A few different people approached us throughout our dining experience and all were nice. Two were very attentive, but one first forgot the lemon for our waters and didn't ask if I wanted more water each time she approached (so I asked since my cup was empty and sitting at the edge of the table - I thought this was the unspoken universal signal for 'please refill me' but perhaps she's new to serving lol).
Menu:
Very clear and not busy. I like that cuz some menus need to be revamped. So many choices, but I narrowed it down to four pastries quickly based on what I prefer. The Porky, Italian, All Day English Breakfast and the Lamb & Mint. I opted for the latter and overall was happy with my selection (one of my friends also went for this one and she liked it).
Food:
Came out warm and smelling delicious (of course I had to snap it first). I wanted to try it without the sauce and it was good, but not tasty. Adding the Red Wine Gravy made it very tasty so it makes sense there's not too much flavor before adding it (ate 1/2 with this gravy). My other friend was having one of the steak ones and his came with Peppercorn Brandy Cream Sauce so I asked for a side for my second half. Sooooo good! I did try a bite of the blue cheese steak pastry he had and very tasty to me, but you must love blue cheese if ordering that one FYI otherwise they said it's too overbearing (perfect for me and blue cheese lovers tho).
Restroom:
Not very pretty in there, but I wouldn't expect it to be in a hipster dive type bar. The stalls were not painted by an artist, lol, but the bright color choice was a good try. I hope all the graffiti was written when there wasn't a line since there's only two stalls. I'm thinking AZ doesn't have the law enforcing toilet seat covers. They had toilet paper, soap, working toilets (oh wait one out of the two was out of order), and running water...so that's really all that matters I suppose. The owner had a sweet long note pulled from Facebook on the wall (it was thanking the community/customers for their continued support) and I would have taken a pic, but left my phone back at the booth.
Overall it was a good experience so I tipped well and didn't have leftovers.
