| - If I happen to be driving on 16th street south of McDowell and want a margarita and some fine Mexican fare, my first choice is Barrio Cafe. However, when venturing out with my nonalcoholic parents this weekend, I consulted Yelp for some good Mexican food, subscribing to my parents theory that the most authentic Mexican food is in a hole in the wall joint in a scary part of town. Well, La Condesa is not in an area where I would take an after dark stroll, but it is by no means a hole in the wall! The restaurant is small, clean, well decorated and most importantly they have a salsa bar filled with amazing salsas, made fresh daily to suit all taste preferences.
My parents and I had various burritos and the bill was under $20 for the 3 of us. Mom still hauled away quite the selection of "to go" sauces and the waitress was very polite and didn't even call her cheap (which I of course made sure to do)!
To make the evening even more exciting, I accidentally spilled my water on the floor and knocked a painting off the wall when I stood up to leave. I will return to this restaurant not only because i feel guilty that the restaurant lost revenue by us dining there, both through extra takeout and damage, but the food was also excellent!
