  • We searched far and wide (ok, maybe not that far and wide) for a brewery in Montreal and we finally found DDC. The first time we went we sat at the bar and were greeted immediately. The beer list is pretty legit and I had to stare at it for a while to make a decision. I finally settled on Sieben Hugel, which was a Rauchbier and I was so happy I made that choice. It was smoky, without tasting like I was sitting in the middle of a forest fire. My next one was the Westphalie and it was a IPL. It was good and refreshing because it had the hop characteristics of a IPA, without the bitter bite at the end. Since we were in town for a few days we popped back in the next day (duh) and there was a line at the door of people waiting for them to open. At first I was like, "Man look at all those people waiting in line like jerks." So, we just stood across the street like a couple of creeps and waited for them to open. This time around I had the Vaisseau des Songes (it was IPA Day so I needed a IPA) and as soon as I took the first sip I realized how good of a decision that was. Not super hoppy, but super refreshing on very warm day. My next beer was the Rigor Mortis Belgian and it was probably one of the best Belgian style beers I've had in a long time. We ordered a small tray of nachos to share and they hit the spot. Definitely something to munch on to keep drinking. They weren't elaborate or anything, but being from California and in Canada I wouldn't expect to get a pound of chips, cheese, and anything else that fits on the platter. The service was chill. They were friendly, hard working, but also pretty relaxed. I enjoyed my time here.
