I had been at this gym before for a previous Yelp event which was a boxing class and I have utilized my brother's UFC Gym when visiting So Cal. I think UFC Gyms are a great alternative to a regular gym membership. For a reasonable price you get to utilize the regular portion of the gym to workout out or take available classes depending on the package you choose, and they offer kids' classes.
On this visit I took a kickboxing class. Darrin was the instructor. There were only four of us in class, two of us first timers. Class started with a warm up which consisted of jumping rope, jogging around the bags, speed ladder drills, bear crawls, crab walks and then sprints outside. So the actual kickboxing, boxing portion of the class did not start until about 25 minutes in. The kickboxing/boxing portion of the class consisted of combinations where we worked on the bag but also got a turn with Darren. Between the combination drills we did some plank variations and push ups. We ended the class with some pretty intense ab work.
This is definitely a good workout. Darrin is a great instructor, very motivating! In my experience with boxing/kickboxing classes even if you don't really get the combo down correctly you are still moving constantly so you will burn a ton of calories regardless. My only complaint about the class format is I would prefer less of the warm up that didn't involve bag work, like 10-15 minutes and let's get to the bags! It's not that I minded the other exercises in the warm up but I take other classes during the week that have those elements so when I sign up for boxing/kickboxing that's where I'd like the focus to be.
This gym is very clean. I didn't notice lockers but they have cubbyholes to store your belongings and the gym is on the smaller side so you are able to keep an on it. They also sell wraps, gloves and clothing items.
