| - UPDATE: Today people came to spray our olive trees and they sprayed their petroleum product on my car. AAM never sent us a notice that they were coming so we had an opportunity to either move or cover our cars. This is just more evidence of amateur and immature management.

I'm not surprised by the plethora of low reviews here. I'm a new homeowner and just learning about HOA's. I naively thought that a "professional" management company would be aware of, and abide by state and federal law.
Warning to anyone considering switching your HOA Community Management to AAM: don't.
AAM took over our community just about a year ago. I've since learned that our manager, David Robinson, has ignored numerous complaints about the property, including pleas form our own board of directors. On New Year's Eve, a homeless person apparently had a meltdown on our property and spread his own excrement on someone's wall in addition to making some other sort of mess in common areas. Our board members tried to contact David of AAM several times regarding how to clean up the human shit that the homeless guy smeared on our walls and David never responded. I have since contacted Tom Gordon, the area manager about this problem and I have not yet received a direct response to my question about how/why David never found it important enough to respond to our board of directors.
I myself contacted David of AAM about a water leak that sprouted up just a few feet from my wall. It took almost 6 weeks for David to have the gardeners turn off the leaking water line. I thought the delay was excessive so I contacted his manager again, Tom Gordon. The result? David Robinson sends me a "first notice" for hanging something on my back patio -- in retaliation for complaining to his boss. Nevermind that our own board of directors have things hanging from their back patios and so do another 50+ homeowners. Is it just a simple coincidence that I received a "first notice" after complaining about our manager and his lack of response and follow-up to problems at our property? Hmmmm. I'd say it's downright juvenile behavior. No one else in our community received a similar warning when I did, including our own board of directors who themselves have hung more than 10+ items from their own back patios -- this is 5 times more items than the number of items I put on mine. That's called "selective enforcement" and is actually illegal. It's a form of discrimination and opens up the HOA and board members to federal fair housing claims. It also puts our board of directors at risk as individuals -- something I suspect AAM will conveniently forget to advise them about.
I wouldn't call David Robinson's behavior here responsible or professional. I prefer a management company that attends to real problems like turning off water leaks sooner than 5 weeks after they receive notice or responding to the board of directors when a homeless person spreads his own excrement on our property. But, hey, I guess I'm just old fashioned...
If you want to chance similar handling by AAM, sure, give them a try.
