| - Rona Erin Mills and Heartland are the two biggest Rona's in all of the GTA. I find its very competitive in terms of quality and price to its leading competitors like home depot, lowes, and home hardware. Carrying most of the major brand names that you hear of all the time (I.e. master craft, moen, bosch, delta, Sico, etc) you'll find this rona will have what your looking if not an alternative solution.
As an occasional do-it-yourselfer, I find its not always what the store has to offer in terms of products, but what the store has to offer in terms of advice. When it comes to home improvement there's more than one way to skin a cat (metaphorically speaking). Finding the right people to talk to can make a huge difference in the amount of money you will be spending, as well as the ease of work. There are a few highly experienced staff members which I speak to on a regular basis who are retired contractors and licensed tradesmen/woman who can make all the difference when completing your home project.
As a consumer you may get frusterated with staff as it may seem that they are never around, or sometimes they can't answer your questions. You simply have to understand that sometimes staff gets caught up with a single customer who have many questions and can take upto half an hour or more of their time. Don't bother asking the guy in paints what to do about your leaky faucet. He might have a suggestion for you... but would you go asking your accountant to fix your roof? Not All Staff are experts! As I have mentioned in other reviews I've worked many retail jobs in my life. Retail jobs are jobs... not careers. People who work part time, do it part time because they want to dedicate the rest of their time pursuing some other career path... So what im saying is don't always assume that everyone working there is an expert at what they do. Most of the staff is trained to answer questions about basic home improvement but if you want to finish your basement yourself and you expect the guys who work at any retail store to explain to you step by step what to do... then your nuts. People dedicate their entire life learning a trade... so for any big fix maybe you should leave it to the experts.
