Grateful Pets Grooming on Monroe Rd. hastened the death of my elder dog. I specifically asked for a bath with no brushing and no toweling/drying off. I asked he not be made to climb into any sort of tub they may have for washing big dogs and I asked he be picked up out of the tub and not made to jump down. They were to call me when he was done and I would come straight away to pick him up. The woman behind the counter said they had experience w/ elder dogs and would be very mindful. When they called I was there in less than 5 minutes. The dog could barely walk. The man who bathed the dog was tugging on the leash trying to get him to hurry up and get out the door. The dog couldn't step into the van and his hindquarters were visibly shaking. He tried to sit several times as his legs gave way. I asked the man what he did to the dog and his reply was maybe I was too rough drying him off. I said you weren't supposed to dry him off- I requested no drying. The woman behind the counter said "We didn't want you to put a wet dog in your car". I stated once again that I had asked for no drying of any kind and no brushing, just a phone call so I could come and get him. I told her I was aware he would be wet and I am prepared for that and she should have heeded my instructions. I couldn't have been any clearer. They obviously don't really care about the pets they "groom" or this would not have happened. Whatever they did aggravated the nerves along the spine and my dog was down for days and on an anti inflammatory drug. He couldn't stand to eat or drink or get outside. Yes, my dog was old, but he walked in there under his own power and was doing fine for an old gent. Leaving there he was debilitated and injured. He never fully recovered and was put down weeks later. These people are the worst kind of turds. If you trust them after reading this not only are you not making the best decision for your pet, you're an idiot as well.
