| - After doing boxing and kickboxing at another local gym for 5 months, I saw a coupon for Jab and wanted to try it out. I took boxing and kickboxing classes--no personal instruction.
Pros:
--The place is really clean. Not many gyms can say that.
--It's also really big, so in all of the classes I took, there was always a bag for everyone.
--It's by far the hardest workouts I've done. Harder than bootcamps, harder than the other place, HARD.
--My fave instructor did Sunday morning kickboxing classes. He was the friendliest and most encouraging.
--This place gave the most true instruction. By that I mean, if you really wanted to get in the ring, you could learn some of the moves beyond the basics. I learned more in one month than I did the previous five elsewhere.
Cons:
--The instructors never introduced themselves or acknowledged us (a simple "welcome to the class, I'm Bob, lmk if you need help" would have sufficed).
--Although class is for all levels, you probably don't want to be the only one standing, huffing and puffing, while everyone else is working out. I would have a pretty decent level of fitness before attempting classes.
--No showers. This is pretty standard for boxing gyms, but it does limit when you can go, if you need to shower before working.
So, bottom line, if you're ready to push yourself to the next level, if you really want a hard workout, try Jab.
