  • As someone who usually has a very light breakfast, Bouchon was, for me, quite an exceptional experience. Walking in, I was greeted by a trio of very friendly wait-staff-members, one of whom directed me to a booth near the windows looking out on some kind of garden or plaza. The view outside was nice enough, but the menu offered more interesting sights. If you like waffles, eggs, or fruit for breakfast you should try this place. The selection from the aforementioned categories was impressive. Still, I'm a light eater in the mornings, and tried to order a small salad. My server, thankfully, would have none of it. She talked me into ordering the lobster gnocchi. I also got some coffee, black. The coffee was impressively good, so much so that I inquired as to its origins. Supposedly Bouchon serves a chef-selected blend of three different beans. I'm not sure what that means, but I like the result - a hot drink with subtle bright notes but not too much bitterness. The gnocchi was, in my opinion, extravagant, for what was a very small dish. Fried capers, pieces of lobster, and gnocchi were the main elements of this fare. They were sufficient. The plate was very salty, very filling, and an excellent way to convey lobster to a sleepy, not-very-hungry, east-coaster. A cursory glance about the dining room revealed the other patrons were thoroughly enjoying their dishes as well, most of which were of the giant waffles with interesting ingredient x variety. You won't leave here hungry.
