  • Tonight was an utter failure. A Monday night - not a busy time for them. I've held off on updating my review for several sub-par visits. But, tonight was the tipping point. So, here's the deal: Newer server: 3 stars - clearly a bit overwhelmed; took several minutes to greet us; was very polite; took the orders accurately; very slow to fulfill drink orders; one glass came with a huge lipstick stain on it; didn't put the entree orders in to the kitchen until after the appetizer was consumed; was slow to check back but was very visibly trying to handle his workload with other tables. Kitchen staff: 0 stars - the steak appetizer was the shining star of the night; lasagna was brutally overcooked; chicken milenase was just average; creme brulee was curdled! Was the Monday Night Football game a distraction? The restaurant was not busy and I counted at least 8 staff on the kitchen side of the pass. Prior, recent, visits: the crab cakes were a majority breading not crab meat. The flat bread pizza was disappointing. I had come to expect higher quality for the price that Brio commands. Overall, I'm going with the 2 stars as the floor manager was, at least, apologetic. And, I think the server deserves a chance to get things figured out. My final frustration was that it appeared that the management and staff wanted to place all the blame for this very sub-par experience on the (newer) server. It was his fault that he was slow to greet and slow to get beverages served. It wasn't his fault that the crew charged with getting serving ware clean let a glass with a huge lipstick stain get through unchecked. It wasn't his fault that the pasta in the lasagna was as hard as tanned leather. It wasn't his fault that the creme brulee had curdled (a comp'd item and still a blow-it!). Folks, it's going to be a while before I think to come back. A shame, really. Brio was on my frequent dine-out list. Now, we'll take a pass until our out-of-town friends come back and just "have to" come here.
