  • Love this place. Hubby read about it in the Sunset Magazine and I questioned, "What does Sunset Mag know?" Well, was I wrong. It's in Downtown where the street has posted "Neighborhood Watch", so you know it's not a great place to be at night. The place is clean, bright and modern looking, located approximately 2 miles from the Strip. The food: 1. Beignets, $8 for a place of 6 rectangles, 2-3 inches. Very good, like donuts but NOT as good as Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. Came with jam and a "to die for" cinnamon butter. 2. Chicken fried steak, $13. Hubby says it's definitely homemade because the shape was irregular. I had a bite, good. But we both agreed we like the CFS better at the Pork Store Cafe in SF. Came with potato chunks. 3. Shrimp and Grits, $12. I loved this dish. Layers on the bottom of my dish was creamy, soft grits, topped with a tortilla, bacon strips and the shrimp sauce with large pieces of shrimp. It was more than enough for 1 person but I stuffed myself and ate the whole thing so as not to waste any. Milk, $2 and OJ $4. The chef was working in the back kitchen with 2 other cooks. This is my bookmark place for local breakfast. Serving staff were so friendly and were a good tag team, helping each other out, even better than some of the restaurants in the hotels on the Strip.
