  • I hired Aquaman 2 years ago based on the recommendation of my real estate agent. (Spoiler - she no longer uses Aquaman) She provided a lot of recommendations that proved excellent, so in spite of Aquaman's outrageous upcharge for routine chemicals, I didn't mind so much, knowing my pool would be well cared for. I had few complaints until this spring. Apparently our pool tech left and that was the beginning of the end. What followed was inconsistent cleaning of the pool itself, a fountain that runs into the pool was ignored, which led to a summer battle with algae. This was frustrating enough, but my calls to remedy the situation were either returned days later or not at all. The final straw came when the timer went out on the filter. When the tech came for the weekly service, my husband asked how much to replace the timer. He said he didn't know but would find out and let us know. The next day Aquaman came and changed out the timer. That's prompt service, yes, but I never received any estimate for the cost, nor did I give them the ok to replace. I had absolutely no idea they were coming. We have a home warranty and the cost to replace would have been half of what I was charged by Aquaman. Furthermore, it still wasn't working. When I called to discuss, I spoke to the service manager, John. I explained that we didn't approve the work, etc. He agreed to send someone out to see what was going on with the timer and if it wasn't a timer issue, they would put our old timer back on and refund the money. Turns out they installed it wrong. They fixed it and left it on and charged me. I had falsely hoped that they would offer to refund the difference for the cost above the warranty. I guess my customer service expectations were too high. I followed this up with a written request to for the timer to be removed and to be refunded. Both John and Chad (owner) were on this email. No response. A week later I emailed Chad directly with the subject line "Please Respond". No response. When I called to discontinue service, I spoke to the office manager. She asked why I was leaving them. I explained the situation again. She said she would have Chad or John call me right away and would refund the money for the timer. It's two weeks later and I haven't heard from anyone. I did receive my final bill, but no refund. So, in summary, if you decide to use this company I hope you are comfortable paying a significant amount of money above the maintenance fee for chemicals, and I hope you get the company the people with 5 star reviews got, because that's not who showed up at my house.
