| - This review is way overdue, as I've gone to Lidia's for years now. Unfortunately, our last experience was probably about two months ago, and we haven't had any desire to go back. I actually really like the food and cocktails there (we only ever get the pasta trio, and whereas it's not the most exquisite fine dining pasta, it's the novelty of different combinations of flavor each time that always kept us interested). Also, because of the fact that we only get the pasta trio, we've never had an issue with service...always very attentive. So take that for what it's worth. The only reason we won't go back is because of an isolated incident the last time we were there. One of the tables next to us had a drunk, belligerent older couple (the man was belligerent, the woman just sat there). They were literally screaming at the waitress (the same as ours), and at one point the man even grabbed her by the arm. When she returned to our table, she had been clearly crying and upset, so we apologized for how horribly she had been treated. He continued to scream at the female manager that approached him, throwing f-bombs all over the place. Everyone was staring, the tables around us all said they wanted to skip coffee and dessert and get their checks so they could get out of there. There were even groups with small children having to witness this. Then the male manager approached and this angry old man was finally ok talking to another man. Within fifteen minutes they were laughing and joking and all was well with the world. For that table at least. They had how many other tables uncomfortable, not wanting to continue the meal, ready to escape, but that horribly behaved table got rewarded. There is a limit to the customer being always right...at some point, a line can be crossed, and in this case, that happened several times. I strongly feel the manager made a poor decision, and despite liking the food there, we've moved on to other places around the 'burgh.
