Full disclosure: I want to give Crescent Ballroom 5 stars, but feel it very presumptuous of me considering I've only been once and I didn't have any of the food (although it looked delicious).
I recently attended a local music concert at Crescent and had a blast! What a cool venue. Perfect for local bands about to hit it big, mid-level national acts traveling through town or even a national act hoping to play a smaller gig. With the bleacher seating in the back of the room there was plenty of seating for those who didn't want to stand (or feet were too tired from dancing already). The sound was great, and although I had to yell at a friend while trying to have a conversation during one of the acts, I still could at least talk to her.
The beer selection was great and prices were moderate- it's about what I would expect to pay for a microbrew on a night out.
Crescent Ballroom is easily accessible- off 2nd Ave & Van Buren. Street parking is easy to find on surrounding streets.
When the show was over, I was a little dismayed to see the hipsters had overtaken the front lounge as I suddenly felt out of place (my jeans weren't tight enough), but everyone seemed to be having fun and it wasn't overly crowded. I'm really looking forward to going back!
