  • Summary: Good: Everything about the food, staff, concept. The slight bad: there's often a long wait, because it's a new restaurant and very popular. Definitely worth a visit. I've had a lot of shabu-shabu (Japanese style), but not as much of the Chinese style hot pot. On a previous visit to this shopping center for a reservation at the Thai place (also great), we saw a long like outside Chubby Cattle, investigated, and discovered it had just opened. Filed it away to try later. A month later, still quite busy. Showing up without reservations seems to mean a 30-40 minute wait (there are some good tea places nearby to wait for the call...); I don't know how hard it is to get reservations. Well worth the wait. Essentially, it is hot pot where you order meat from the waiter directly, and then use the conveyor for additional plates of vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, etc. There is also a sauce bar to make custom excellent sauces (Thai fish sauce was my favorite.) Quality of meat seems to be excellent -- tried the beef combination and beef/lamb combination, as well as the hand-cut angus special. We also had skewers of grilled beef and lamb (also excellent.). Watermelon juice was a good accompaniment. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. Given that every seat in the restaurant was full, I was amazed how fast they were with food and drink requests. Looking forward to going back.
