| - Had an amazing brunch this morning at NU. Let me begin by telling you I love brunch and have eaten at probably every brunch in Pittsburgh, the best many times. This by far was my favorite and let me tell you why. In addition to eight main courses, there is this homey little buffet with amazing things on it. Before i get to the main courses, let me talk about the service (excellent) and the buffet of " noshes". Wow- this amazing potato kugel, chopped liver to die for, bagels, many different spreads, fresh fruit salad, biscuits, bannana bread, pumpkin noodle kugel, this chocolate babka bread pudding and this buttery jam torte. I am sure i forgot a few things and the spread may change from week to week, but between the two of us, we tried most of it and it knocked our socks off. You help yourself to the table and then you choose one of eight entrees. I had shashuka, this spicy tomato stew with onions and a fried mush topped with two perfectly poached eggs. It was spicy, but not excessively so, and i could not have enjoyed it more. My friend had the house made lox scrambled with carmelized onions and eggs. This was topped with a ball of insanely great cream cheese, lemon and capers. I was glad to see they kept the montreal smoked brisket and there were two choices, maybe three, that had that. There was a bacon and eggs choice and a vegetarian choice, and a few others. The best part was the entire meal was under $20 per person, and the portions were so big, i'm having shashuka for dinner again tonight. Cant wait to go back next weekend!
