  • This was my primary care doctor for a long time and I always had good experiences. Until something went wrong with me. I had blood work come up with very high calcium. I was tested again to see if it was a "fluke" as they called it. It wasn't a fluke. It was even higher this time. I was told to wait a few months and get it tested again. This was unacceptable to me. I told the staff as much. I was told that I was trying to rush something that didn't need to be rushed. I know that reading on the Internet doesn't make you a doctor but if you look up high blood calcium, it's not good. It won't go away on its own. Period. It's usually a parathyroid problem. I BEGGED for a referral and was STILL denied! The bottom line is; Dr. Casalman couldn't fix me. She can't operate. I needed to see an endocrinologist, and fast. I called my insurance and told them the entire story. They forced the referral on their end and I bypassed Dr. Casalman. I was seen by the endocrinologist a week later and was then referred to a surgeon (during the same office visit) and had an operation a month later. Because I did have hyperparathyroidism and it required surgery as the ONLY way to fix my blood calcium levels. My surgeon explained that the tumors I had were young and aggressive. They needed to come out as soon as possible. I was actually denied adequate care here by delaying because she wanted me to "wait and see in a few months." Go somewhere else. Save yourself the headache. We are the only ones who can truly take care of ourselves.
