  • What was given as a gift as a relaxing weekend was anything but. My husband and I have stayed here twice, the last time being in January 2015 since then the management has gone to the birds. When I previously made reservations I used a credit card to hold the room, very standard and it was on file for room service or damages also standard. I hadn't had time to put the cash we were given on my credit card but I doubted it would be an issue, this place should be very used to dealing in cash and we wouldn't be using room service or trashing the room. At check in I was given the total for the stay and told that we have to allow them to authorize the amount of the stay plus another $100 for 'incidentals' on a credit card. I advised I was going to pay for the room at check in and we wouldn't be using room service. Then the story changed. We still had to do the $100 authorization for 'damages'. I tell her I'll give them the $100 in cash, again another change, if I want to give them their 'deposit' in cash it had to be $500. This is not the same as our previous stays and I'm extremely annoyed that they are not transparent about it on their site where you make reservations. Finally I asked for a manager. The manager on duty Catherine comes out talking and continually talks over me no matter how many times I ask her to stop. An unnecessary authorization or $500 cash on top of the 'resort fee' which is the code for 4 bottles of water, bad coffee and unsecured wi-fi and $550 for 2 nights so I'm beyond annoyed at the greed. I told my husband at this point I didn't want to stay, I was going to be upset anyway. Catherine stated she would cancel the reservation. At that point I remembered the agreement stated if you didn't cancel 3 days prior you would be charged for the reservation, when I ask if that's correct she says yes so I told my husband apparently we're stuck. I could tell by the look on her face that she was hoping I didn't remember that but plays it off and says she was going to 'give me a break'. Yeah I bet she was and when I was charged tell me 'I agreed to the terms and conditions'. As we finally finished the ridiculous process my husband was getting ready to process his credit card they try again to slip in that they're going to be adding in the amount of the room on top the $100 authorization. Apparently hearing comprehension is not a strong suit or they're thinking they can get cash and run the room cost through my bank. It takes forever to 'redo' that but finally it's done and we're on our way to a room. Once we're there I look at the paperwork my husband was given which I thought was a receipt but no. I call to the front desk to speak to Catherine to find out why they wouldn't give a receipt to someone paying $600 in cash. I first get Gina, tell her I want to speak to speak to Catherine. Gina tells me she's one of the managers, I advise she's not the one I dealt with so as I told her I would like to speak to Catherine. Gina's reply "that's not what you said" and hangs up, really professional but from things so far, I'm not shocked. So I call back, ask for Catherine. I start to tell my husband about Gina then the girl on the line starts asking me what I'm talking about. Really? I told her she needed to transfer me instead of eavesdropping. Catherine seems 'genuinely' surprised that Gina was so rude and of course she'll address it and is shocked that we didn't get a receipt. She'll have someone bring it up. She decided it sounds like we don't travel very much so she's going to try to help us out and send an amenity. As we tried to relax I see the room wasn't cleaned evidenced by the dirty bathroom, the fresh stains on the floor, the sheets that looked like they'd been eaten by moths, the inches of dust and the curtains that were stained so we checked out the next day. What was even worse was when we had the housekeeping supervisor come look at the room and sign off that we wouldn't be charged, she saw nothing wrong with any of it. For $200 + a night you can do better Talking Stick. Since the responses are basically canned I don't expect anything; however, I will not be back and all family members and co-workers who asked how my get-away was...well let's say they aren't booking a trip anytime soon.
