I love this place for the cool atmosphere, different types of music and genres and variety of drinks. During the week this place is very chill and relaxed and usually plays rock music. You will have a casual environment, no problem finding a table, or getting served.
On the weekends it turns into this crazy party place, inside being dark lit and mixed with music types, but they also have a back room where they change the music on the weekends. Make sure when you go up to the bar on the weekends you have your money out, order ready and you have to be a bit aggressive usually to be served. So the Griffin is like 2 completely different atmospheres in one. I think that is a really great feature of this place.
This is also a heavily locals place. Not many tourists seem to end up in here. So keep that in mind if you are trying to hangout with locals or just be in a less touristy establishment.
Overall this is a great place, especially on week nights to catch up with friends or to go after a date to relax and hangout in a casual environment. I love the fireplaces in winter too! They add such character to the place.
