I accompanied my daughter for her first visit to this office, to see dr machnau for acne. The doctor explained that there are 3 plans to attack the problem, we start at Plan 1. We purchased all the products, including a RX for an antibiotic. Within a few weeks my daughters skin be came so dried out, with acne and hyper sensitive she could not even apply moisturizer. A call to the office they suggested she stop all products except the antibiotic. 6 weeks later, and out of antibiotic and with the acne still alive and well my daughter called dr. Machnau. My daughter stated that the acne condition had not improved said that she was now out of state (away at college) dr. Machnau told her since she could not come in for a visit, there is nothing she can do to treat my daughter any longer. And that my daughter would need to find a new doctor. I called the office to explain that my daughter is at college without a vehicle and that getting another new doctor where she is would be difficult and that is why we got her established here with a doctor(Dr. machnau) in our home town. After talking to the office, Diana several times, not ever speaking to dr. Machnau. A prescription for a topical gel was called into the pharmacy near my daughters campus. Nice right. NO. NOT REALLY turns out the RX called in is a topical gel that the generic cost $690.00 or $823.00 for brand. AND this was never part of 3 possible treatment plans mentioned at our initial visit!!
Helpful or not.
NO. NOT HELPFUL or considerate.
I also want to point out that we came in as cash paying customers. Not using our insurance. Of course Insurance doesn't cover this outrageously priced drug for cosmetic purposes. Just another company/individual that has no problem taking my money and coming up short on service and delivery. Good thing there are dermatologist on every other corner here, hope they don't all operate like this. Doctors not putting patients firsts is not new just completely sad and disappointing. So grateful this is not a life threatening, just wanted you to know:)
