This is a great hike, but I suggest the park service put up a couple of trail signs to keep people on the right track (perhaps they have done this already...). Did this hike twice, and each time saw groups of hikers taking multiple paths up, including nearly straight up the face. I will tell you, it gets gnarly when you are climbing super steep pitches (ask me how I know...).
The second time we followed the path to the left of the peak, and it was so much easier! It will feel like you are going around the mountain to the left and sort of up from the back side. Awesome views from the top! Bring plenty of water, especially if it's hot. Gloves would be a good idea too, as there can be quite a bit of scrambling and putting your hands down on sharp rocks (or cactus, as my intrepid nephew discovered! Ouch...).
We all fell on our butts a couple times on the way down, the rocks are a bit unstable in lots of places. Overall very fun. Wear long sleeves and wide-brimmed hat in summer...
