  • Cravings during pregnancy is no joke. So when my pregnant self wanted some Horchata and Mexican food, yelp offered this restaurant as an option. I was half way out the door when I saw a picture of their Horchata. Although this establishment is almost 30 min away from where I live, I will go to great lengths to satisfy my cravings. The restaurant was small - fits like 25-30 people small. But it was cozy and vibrantly decorated in Dia de Los Muertos theme. My friend and I had a hard time figuring out whether we were to seat ourselves or if we were to wait for a host/hostess to seat us. There was no hostess stand and the staff looked to consist of about 4 people (all extremely busy). After much confusion and waiting time the man who we can only assume was the owner sat us (we walked up to the register to ask). The Horchata was excellent; and the food was even better. I will say my most favorite was the Pacific White Fish taco but the Black Mole Shrimp taco was just as delicious. My friend ordered the Maria Sabina Quesa which consisted of Oaxaca cheese and sautéed mushrooms deep fried in a corn quesadilla topped with Mexican sour cream and queso cotija. I am not used to eating a quesadilla this way but I don't think I can go back to the flat, boring quesadillas that I used to know. I love that this restaurant is authentic to Mexico and incorporates flavors from all regions of the country. I believe the reputation of the food is true to other yelpers' reviews however I have to comment on the under par service we received. I realized at one point that the service took a hit probably because the owner and sister/gf/wife (???) were noticeably feuding. I hope it was just an off day and am most definitely looking forward to my return.
