Here's the secret. Buy a ticket in advance for the night. You can avoid the long lines and enjoy the full High Roller experience at the far end of the Linq casino. The entrance is next to the monorail station at the long end of the outdoor mall from the strip.
The High Roller is a massive enclosed Ferris wheel with panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip and surrounding desert. The views are probably great during the day, but at night you can see the lights of the strip at their peak.
For my trip, I chose the all day Half happy hour option which includes unlimited drinks. If you buy a discount voucher, try to exchange early in the day to get a ticket to avoid the long line after dark.
My trip was really easy with a short line and a chill group. I had great conversation with several people during the 30 min rotation. It is a slow climb with impressive views. Our bartender was a woman from Australia with a sexy accent and the ability to serve us many, many mixed drinks. You can really get a lot of booze here.
The ride is smooth and fun. Getting off is a little weird, but they have a giant net underneath if you miss. Hopefully you will not and simply enjoy a great ride and a greater view of Las Vegas.
