  • Typically, places I rate 3 stars or higher I'd return to. I debated for that reason only rating this hotel 2 stars, but it did have some redeeming qualities, and I guess enough of them to give it a three. From what I value in a hotel though, I wouldn't recommend the Airport Sheraton. I'll give both the pluses and minuses... most minuses were attributed to a few staff and staff attitudes. First the pluses... the lobby was grand looking, comfortable, bright and clean. There was a lobby bar and plenty of seating spaces. The furniture was in good repair and the lobby bathrooms as well as those by the ballroom were clean and modern. Our room was clean and the bedding was acceptable. The housekeeping staff were incredibly friendly and helpful as were the hospitality sweet staff. Kudos to them! Now the not so great to down right poor... the rooms were small and dark. The bathroom in our room was super small, although larger in our friend's room. There wasn't a fridge in the rooms. Day one of our stay we went down to the lobby to socialize with friends with a bottle of wine. The hotel bar was closed at 11:00 and we sat in the conversation pit area in front of it. We were immediately told we couldn't drink outside alcohol there and asked to leave. Then when we asked where we could drink our wine, we were directed about 20 feet to another conversation pit area also in the lobby... stupidest thing I've ever heard and demeaning in a hospitality based establishment. You are selling a home away from home! Then in the morning the kitchen wasn't adequately supplying the concierge room with breakfast food, or the Buffett down in the lobby... they weren't keeping up in either place even though they were aware the hotel was booked weeks in advance. The check in desk was telling people no rooms were ready for check in on Saturday when the housekeeping staff knew there were rooms ready. Keys weren't working upon check in and were getting deactivated early on checkout day making for a great inconvenience. The second night we sat in the same conversation pit area after a wedding reception and ordered drinks from their bar. A couple of us kicked our shoes off after dancing all evening while sitting there and were immediately approached by the same staff member as the night before and told we needed to keep our shoes on. There was a pool right off the lobby and a breakfast bar there. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and on multiple occasions, I'd bet to say every time, seen people at breakfast or on their way from the pool without shoes on! This lady was intent on letting us know we were not welcome. The service staff at the reception, also at the hotel, was very quick at the end of the evening to clear away the tables. Many people never even saw their slice of wedding cake as they were out dancing when the cake was served and it was picked up and cleared a few minutes later. The staff also cleared the little goodie bag that the bride and groom had prepared for their guests! At the end of the evening when we returned for them, they were gone. I've never seen such a thing. Bride and the groom prepared those and put a special note on them to thank the guests. In my opinion, that was incompetent training of the staff and very disappointing. The reason I decided to go with a three instead of two star rating, is because the price point of this hotel for a downtown airport stay is very affordable. If that is your need, stay here, but otherwise they need some help. Remember, Sheraton, you are in the hospitality industry! Please train your staff appropriately.
