  • I've belonged to a good number of gyms (more than I can recall right now) in three different states. This is the best. I joined right after it opened in January 2012 and think it has only improved. When going to the gym is something you look forward to because of how good the experience is, it's good for your health. It's easiest to start with the common gym problems and how they're absent from CAC. I used to have to wait in long lines to get onto equipment. Here, I think the longest I've ever waited is for one person to finish his set. Part of this is the fact that CAC caps its memberships. Many gyms make their money by selling more memberships than their equipment can accommodate, banking on people not only showing up at different times, but not at all. At CAC, capping the membership seems to work at keeping it from being overcrowded. Trainers are everywhere, but they're not upselling you. You will know who the trainers are. They will smile, say hello, and be nice to you. They will NOT aggressively recruit you for their program. Compared to my last gym in Las Vegas, where someone tried to shove a business card into my hand when i was between sets, this is a great improvement. The equipment is varied between machines and freeweights. Personally I would prefer more freeweights, but the gym seems oriented toward high intensity training, which is much more effective with machines. Without digressing into a discussion of machines versus freeweights, there are more than enough of both to keep everyone happy, but there is a focus on machines. The locker rooms have always been clean, and about half of the time I go I see someone in the process of cleaning them. I've never had any security issues storing items in the gym locker room. I haven't used the pool or sauna either, but they've always been clean when I've seen them. Best, though, are the people who go to CAC. Everyone is friendly but efficient. People will engage in small talk and give a spot when needed, but the focus is on working out, rather than hanging out. There aren't kids running around, or unsupervised new years resolution types dangerously swinging around weights. While people who never worked out before are welcome, it's a place for people who are serious about working out and not looking to just screw around. For anyone who wants results from using the gym, that's why CAC is great.
