| - Having eaten at Cure twice now, I'd have to make the argument for it as the city's best restaurant. The only thing potentially holding it back is that it's BYOB, so you can't get the cocktail experience that a place like Spoon, for example, can provide. But based on the food alone, I'd give it the edge over some of the others typically mentioned in that discussion (aka, Salt, Spoon, etc.).
My wife and I were there as a group of 6 on Saturday and it was superb from beginning to end. Salumi plate was fantastic. Chilled celery soup appetizer, with lobster jelly and big lobster chunks, was insanely good. I'd say the same about the heirloom tomato salad with pine nut brittle and this other-worldly creamy dressing and the beef tartare with chili and chocolate, two sauces, and what I believe was a freeze-dried hazelnut crumble (the sauces were great, but really the tartare was awesome on its own).
Hangar steak was perfectly cooked, the best piece of roasted chicken I've ever had (with pesto and polenta and a hung chunk of bacon - more like pork belly - and warmed peaches), an interesting take on a carbonara with an egg served in the plate alongside big pieces of pasta and peas and bacon, for the diner to incorporate.
Only two deserts, but both got raves (I only tasted the chocolate cake).
I've heard complaints about the noise, but both times I did not find it to be an issue. It was pretty warm inside and by the time we left, 2.5 hours after we arrived, we were pretty hot. It WAS the hottest day of the year and Cure does have an open kitchen and probably not the most modern AC/ventilation system, so I'll cut it some slack.
In any case, if you've got the resources or can save up, get to Cure. It is awesome.
