I bought a groupon for my lower legs and I have tanned skin. The laser is alright..they use a diode, which is supposed to be good for all skin types. I am also petite and don't have a lot of fat on my legs, which ended up being a disadvantage because their laser uses a "suction action" and sucks up your skin to pulse light. My shins and ankles were always an issue and therefore did not get consistent results. On my third visit the so-called manager set my setting too high and burned my shins very badly! I've had laser hair removal at two other places and never- ever had any issue with burning. I also question whether they clean their lasers after each patient as it does completely touch your skin. Do yourself a favor and use simplicity instead...their lasers do not come into contact with skin and are much more efficient then Deseret's.
