  • Got tickets to see one of my favorite bands play. They were playing at The Talking Stick Resort, at the pool in Scottsdale. All of our friends had nothing but great things to say about this place. I had been to Talking Stick several times. I have to admit, it seemed like it would be a blast. As it got closer to the show, I asked my husband to book a room for us at the Resort so we would not have to worry about a ride home that night. We planned to check in to the hotel, have dinner, and enjoy the concert. When the show was over, I planned on playing Blackjack before calling it a night. THE RESTAURANT: In my opinion, the quality of the food was very poor for the price tag. My steak was burnt with no seasoning. The wait time was 1 hour, and they were not busy at all. Granted, this is a Casino in Scottsdale so we were already expecting to pay more, not a big deal. Until we went back 7 hours later for more drinks and food. We got chips, were not offered any more food, and waited an hour before we really saw our server. He brought the check, and never asked to refill my husbands drink or if we wanted food. OUR KEYS QUIT WORKING: Had to go back down to the front desk and wait in line, where we were informed that "the key cards are de-magnetized by your phone and credit cards, and you cannot keep the key near those items". I've never had that problem with any other resort. DON'T BUY DRINK TICKETS AT THEIR CONCERTS: Go to your ATM beforehand and pull out cash. They will rob you with non-refundable tickets. They have a drink max, and you have to wait in line for 1 hr just for a drink. Plan on NOT having a buzz by the end of the show. OH, and if you just want a water you will still have to wait an hour for the bartender to pour everyone else's drinks first. Your water drink ticket means nothing. $47 wasted on drink tickets because they shut down the bar and kick everyone out as soon as the band leaves stage. We had 3 Housekeepers, the Casino Manger, and 2 other employees in our hotel room at 2am and it was not for a hotel party! The room was THAT dirty, and all other rooms were sold out. Take a look at the pictures. All of these people were in our room inspecting our claims of filth, so the staff at Talking Stick IS AWARE how dirty their rooms are. I was ready to check-out since I had just got to my room for the night and it was so filthy, for a refund. They refused to refund our money because we "occupied the room". Even though we had been at their venue all night AT THE CONCERT! I would like to add that they did end up crediting a little bit of money to the room. Although we did not pay full price, we still paid over $100. Also, they were willing to give us so much more in comps, but they would just need our Players Card. When they found out we did not have a Players Card, they took their offer back (which was comped drinks, and food). The money that we did spend in their restaurant was not comped/refunded. This place RUINED my birthday. I expected so much more out of a Resort that classifies themselves as "high-end". I just spent hundreds of dollars on motel quality BS, and I didn't even gamble at their Casino. They don't deserve to play with my money when they hire people to sell high volumes of overpriced drink tickets that they know will not be used since they must purposely under-staff their venues on sold out shows. If you think you are going to a "Luxury Resort", think again. It may look nice, but it is not what you would expect. This was not my first visit, as I have been to the Casino many times. This was my first experience with the hotel/concert venue. The Casino is a joke, don't play the slots. They are designed to take your money. Go to Vegas to play slots. Blackjack tables are over-priced for min bet. If you want excellent customer service, and clean rooms GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
