Visited the Rainforest Cafe during dinnertime the last Wednesday of December 2010. I was not aware that this was a national chain. I thought it was a one-of-a-kind Las Vegas restaurant. I expected a first-class dining experience. Was I ever disappointed. It took about 20 minutes to seat my wife, daughter & myself - the place was very busy. The sights & sounds were entertaining - I'll give the place credit for its entertainment value. The menu prices really gave me pause. I figured with these prices that the servings must be huge, so I decided to eat off of my wife's & daughter's plates. My wife ordered the fish & chips & my daughter ordered the coconut shrimp. The fish was awful - absolutely the worst I have ever sampled. Very little cod filling & the breading was oily & mushy. On an earlier visit to Vegas, I had the fish & chips at Nine Fine Irishmen at New York, New York. It was expensive there, too, but delicious. The coconut shrimp was so-so, nothing special. Did I ever hate ponying up the money for such disappointing food.
